When it comes to Chihuahua puppy training, you definitely need to be calm and patient. This breed is easily provoked and they always crave attention and exercise.

You know, my naughty Chihuahua Flamey is like that – attention addict! So I always do a few fun dog exercises with her everyday but this did not help change her naughty habits.

See, Flamey likes to bolt out the door and I find that habit extremely irritating!

But, the biggest problem was her nipping behavior. She loves nipping on just about every soft material in the house. She nipped on my favorite sweater, my socks, tablecloth, curtain and God knows what else…

Enough, already!

I was tired of putting up with her crazy behavior! Training her was no cakewalk and this often got me s-o-o-o- riled up!

So, I looked up on the internet for some advice on Chihuahua puppy training and stumbled upon a guide that teaches you how train a dog with the help of a clicker.

The guide contains clearly explained training instructions for 30 different dog behaviors. It even showed me how to shape new behaviors in my Chihuahua using a very intensive but easy to follow training plan.

No problem! Several training sessions later, I managed to get Flamey to quit her excessive nipping habit. I’m happy as a clam because I can’t believe that Chihuahua puppy training using a clicker can be so effective and fun.

For me clicker training is the perfect way to train one’s Chihuahua puppy and if you choose to adopt this training method, then take note of these tips:

(1) When clicking be sure to position your hand by your sides. Reach for the reward/treat in your pocket after clicking. This is the best way to teach your puppy to respond to the clicker. If you reach for the treat before clicking, your puppy may end up responding to your hand movement and we want to avoid that.

(2) Always, always, always charge the clicker. If you charge it correctly, then you would not need more than 10 – 30 clicks to teach your puppy to completely respond to the clicker. However do keep in mind that it may take slightly longer if the charging process is done in places with distractions.

Trust me, with a clicker in hand and the proper instructions in place, Chihuahua puppy training can be effectively done in minimal period of time.

Discover Your Inner Beagle

Ignoring Dr Phil for the moment, there are a number of great people who have built a sound reputation on their capacity to build human connectedness. The list is endless but they include Carl Rogers, L. J. Moreno and Fritz Perls. It is all well and good being a theoretical genius but for my personal relationship wisdom I turn to a being that has reached a key milestone in emotional self-actualisation, someone who has reached a higher plain. I turn to the guru himself who is known only as Oskar. In eight years Oskar has simply mastered the capacity to unconditionally receive love. For Oskar is a beagle. Oskar will gleefully jump up on the bed in the morning and with an uncanny shift of the eyebrows indicate that it is time for him to receive some beagle lovin’. I start with slow cheek scratching and his face contorts with unabashed pleasure. He leans into my hands to soak up each caress. But when I slowly massage his temples it is like he is being stroked by an angel and his eyes roll back and glaze over as if he is in direct contact with divinity. In this moment Oskar does not doubt for a second that he is fully adored and loved. He is fully accepting of all the love I give him. He knows that he is so worthy of that love that he takes it in fully. In that moment he experiences utter bliss.
When we doubt that we are worthy of our partners love we fail to experience that transitory moment of bliss. I could spend years in therapy trying to purge myself of self doubt but when I want to embrace that moment of bliss I simply imagine that I am Oskar. I take in the gentle kisses and the gentleness of my partners hands and soak up her love. I experience a moment of bliss. It was only a moment, for when I licked my partners face in appreciation the mood was lost.

Embrace you inner beagle and bliss will follow.

How to Train a Rottweiler ? Discover Some Effective Ways to Train a Rottweiler

You see, several months ago, I brought home a black Rottweiler pup which I named Ozil. Now giving obedience training to Ozil was pretty hard at first as he was really stubborn!

Alright listen; learning how to train a Rottweiler is not exactly rocket science, okay…Here are some effective ways to help you get started:

(1) Obedience training is mandatory and I always use a clicker to obedience train my Rottweiler. Since I discovered clicker behavior shaping techniques, I’ve been using them almost exclusively.

If you want to be good at clicker training, then you should work on your observation and reaction skills. Improve these attributes and you’ll soon discover how quickly your dog can pick up a particular behavior. Bottom line: The better you get, the faster your dog will learn.

(2) Teach your dog behavior fluency. This is a central concept in clicker training and it is what makes this form of dog training extremely effective. Also remember to measure your Rottweiler’s behavior fluency rate.

You can easily do this by counting the amount of times your dog is able to perform the behavior that you’ve taught him within say 30 – 60 seconds.

(3) Dog socialization is also mandatory. Teach your Rottweiler how to be around other dogs and properly introduce him to strangers. Rottweiler requires plenty of attention, socialization and should not be tied for extensive periods of time.
