www.dogproblems.com Adam demonstrates attention training around distractions — with a hyper boxer puppy as the distraction. A couple of points about this video you wouldn’t know, just by watching it: – The Golden Retriever was a dog we rescued from a veterinarian in Bogota, Colombia. He was so dog aggressive around other dogs (as well as pigeons!) that she couldn’t handle him. She couldn’t even take him for a walk! – The boxer puppy is a dog we have never met before. The Golden Retriever is a bit nervous about the other dog– a stranger– being so close to him. This is an insecurity that will go away, as we do more repetition around similar types of distractions. Our approach to dog training emphasizes actively seeking out and working your dog around distractions.

Still, it’s 6:30 and we want to get over to the other side to hike some of the canyon and get photos from there of the Hotel Mirador. I’m usually a happy to meet the early morning person, but I’m really having a hard time leaving this hotel today. We’re hiking to another canyon view from the side parking lot (not that I’ve seen any cars park while we were here). Huge rocks hang over the valley, so we HAVE to get our photos taken on a few of these marvels. We find another stunning canyon valley view and plop down to soak in the beauty and serenity. I’d like to spend another two days hiking and doing the local tours. In my mind, I already have the perfect return trip planned, but I don’t want to return to the US right now! I am secretly hoping that Gary whips out his credit card and says “lets just stay another two days.” We’re running out of time and have to make the bus or be left behind in paradise.Gary doesn’t look like he’s going to say those words I really …
