@neumank9academy violent was the wrong word to use. i should have said the strongest such as pits, rotties, etc…those kind of dogs will also give their life for you. that’s all i was saying.

  3. neumank9academy Says:

@wonderandwhisper A stable tempermented, confident, and well trained German Shepherd is far from a violent dog. The dog in the video (Manny) has earned the Canine Good Citizen, TDI (Therapy dog), and Schutzhund AD.

  4. wonderandwhisper Says:

@JoeA320Pilot all the most violent dogs will do just what u said, not just germans.

@neumank9academy nice to hear and thanks for the reply :)

@snowblind1985 The winter photos were taken around the same time as the video. The couple of other random shots were taken a 6 months and 18 months (approximate) before the video. Manny is still alive and well, he loves to swim, track, and be with the family.

  7. snowblind1985 Says:

is manny older in the vid than in the pictures? very nice video :)

Im a proud owner of a German Shepherd. These dogs will take a bullet for you and fight to the death. Other dogs will just hide behind you. German shepherds are so nice and kind. I can’t wait till we get another GSD.

@CookiezxX A great way to train dogs to do this without developing aggression is to cultivate a very strong play drive. By making an “assailant’s” arm the dog’s favourite toy (and only available on command) you can teach the dog to hold and subdue a person while keeping it under control. Many police dogs are trained this way.

As Newmank9academy says though, the dog must have the correct temperament and drive in the first place for this type of work.

hey. im thinking about getting a german shepherd. im 17 and turning 18 next year. i have a massive acreage but no fences. will i require a fence? (hope this isnt a stupid question) also, are they difficult to train (i have never had a dog since parents have told me i need to be older to be responsible in the last few years). and also for them to be protective, do they need to be trained properly?

    thanks:)

    EPIC DOG

  13. talk2malawyer Says:

@287cc the problem is that some german shepherds wil need alot of attention, they xdont like to be bored easily, thas why other brand of dogs maybe be better if u aren’t gunna have enuf time to take care of them

  14. JoeA320Pilot Says:

    That german shepherd OWNS.

  15. TheMamaluigi2 Says:

wow thats a REALLY well trained dog

  16. RockabillyVegan Says:

    what an awesome dog!

  17. GameNinja01 Says:

how did you train that dog to do that type of stuff or is it natrual?

  18. Seno121 Says:

@287cc German Shepards are great dogs. There are other dogs like border collies, mastiff, bull dog that are also very protective and smart or even smarter than a German Shepard

  19. neumank9academy Says:

@CookiezxX The dog needs to have the right temperament, drive, and training to do this type of work. The training enables you to put the behavior on command so that the dog has a clear on and off switch. Excellent question-

  20. CookiezxX Says:

Do you have to train a german shepherd to do that or is it in them?

  21. Gone2Huntin Says:
